Enigmatic Scruggs figure P.L. Blake hires local counsel in continuing investigation
Judge Delaughter’s counsel have filed a motion to dismiss the honest services mail fraud counts of the indictment; however, this indictment describes troubling conduct and will survive this attack.
Zach Scruggs will be sentenced today and I’m guessing it won’t be a probated sentence as both the government and defendant argue.

The Department of Justice is reportedly looking at bringing RICO charges against Dickie Scruggs for the bribery of Judge DeLaughter.
The Scruggs trial (see earlier post here) was to begin Monday, March 31 and as we all know all of the defendants have entered guilty pleas either to Count One of the Indictment, or to a Criminal Information (Zach Scruggs and Joseph Langston (who was not named in the original Indictment)).
